The greatest wines in the world are made from grapes grown on sites that are specifically suited to certain varieties. The way that the vine interacts with the soil, site, climate and growing conditions to produce grapes of unique character forms the basis of our understanding of the concept of ‘terroir’.
Our focus at Haskell Vineyards since inception has been towards finding ways to maximize the potential of our vineyards. Across the 23 hectare estate there are numerous changes in soil type and soil structure, and pronounced differences in elevation and aspect from block to block.
Through dedication, experimentation and an element of trial and error, we have come to an understanding of our unique terroir and how to get the best out of it.
As a result, Haskell Vineyards has been able to create wines that meet our own lofty aspirations and expectations.
