The 2019 vintage is an amazing year for white and Rose wines. The weather played out perfectly during ripening. Cool mornings and moderate temperatures during the day time gave way to excellent fruit quality.
Grapes were handpicked at optimal ripeness during the early hours of the morning. It was destemmed and given two hours skin contact in the press to give the juice more complexity and colour. Fermented was in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to increase the fruit flavour compounds in the wine. After fermentation wine was left on the lease for an extra couple months. Wine is racked off lease filtered and bottled.
Soil & Terroir:
This wine comes from the a few regions in Western Cape. Has from decomposed granite to sandy loam soils. Terroir falls in the Mediterranean category, resulting in a lot of dry sunny weather during the summer months ensuring that the wine is full of ripe juicy flavours.
Nothing but fruit is the key word here. It has lots of strawberries, raspberries, ripe cherries and some hints of pineapple on the nose. On the palate it is creamy with a medium acidity and low alcohol. Perfect to enjoy on a beautiful day here at the long table.
