Pillars 2016

Categories: ,

Variety: 100% Stellenbosch Syrah

Harvest Data

Vintage detail:
The 2016 vintage was dry, warm and challenging for many farmers, it was one of the driest years on record. We experience nothing different from the rest of the year, with a smaller crop and a few heatwaves as early as late October. The dry weather resulted in healthy berries and vines; however the yield was lower and berries smaller resulting in wines that have a lot of concertation and colour.

Tasting Note

Notes of violets, black tea, liquorish, black current and white pepper all layered and evolve as the wine opens. The palate has a grip yet velvety with coated fruit tannins balancing well with the hints of wood char on the tast. Tannins balancing well with the hints of wood car on the taste. Wine drinks well now but can easily age for another 10 years.
