Description
Winemaker’s comment
Ideal winter conditions that supplemented water reserves and contributed to even growth, provided an excellent foundation for the 2022 crop.
Vinification
The grapes were all handpicked on two different occasions to bring more complexity to the profile. All grapes are whole bunch pressed in the cellar. We were using 300l French oak barrels of which 15% was new oak for this wine. This wine did not go through malolactic fermentation resulting in wines with more mid palate tension. Wine matured in barrel on the fine lees for 11 months.
Soil & Terroir
The soil consists of 10% clay and 50% gravel on a North-Western slope. The row direction is 45° West of North. The stone fraction in this vineyard is less than in the other parts on the farm.
Tasting note
The wine shows upfront notes of ripe stone fruits, white blossoms and hints of roasted almond.
On the palate the wine opens and shows a citrus taste with subtle oak flavors. The acidity in the wine helps to mid palate length and ends on a creamy finish.
